Howdy to the camp!

Well, my old 1860, as gaudy as it is, desserves another name more dignified and politically correct than "Pimp rifle."

I have decided to have a contest to rename the ol' boy.  I will take suggestions, and choose one (if I don't come up with one on my own) to rename it.  The prize for the winner will be an autographed copy of my picture with the ol' boy (the one with the Tom Berringer smile) and braggin rights!

All names should be respectful, addressing both the solemnity of its history (actually being used in the Civil War), but also addressing its current rather "pretty boy" and gaudy appearance!  Suggestions should be done in replies to this thread, and be suitable for juvenile and female consumption!

Let the contest begin!

TL,

Two corrections.  One, aren't we talking about a carbine and not a rifle, since this might influence the names that are submitted.  And two, I was always led to believe that our firearms were of a female persuasion, like Davey Crockett's "old Betsy" for example, and not how you referred to your Spencer as "ol' boy" in your post.

Just some thoughts on my part.

 Hi all
Here's a few - and I don't guarantee they're all politically correct...

8) Pretty Boy
:P Reb Hammer
;) Brass Lady

Personally, I like "Reb Hammer" the best, for starters because it is politically incorrect, but also because of the pun.  Only good rebs (and yes, I am assuming there are such ;) ) know how much brass they used in gun manufacturing during <i>the war</i>. It also means you can call it '<i>Reb</i>' for short, and '<i>#!%$!@## Seccessh</i>' when it's misbehaving.

Wow some good names.

Maybe even combine them like "Golden Reb Hammer"!

I was also thinking of "Lucretia Borgia" for two reasons: One, she was beautiful but deadly, and second is tha Buffalo Bill Cody was my father's mother's cousin, that was what he called his 50-70 Allin conversion 1866 Springfield he used to kill buffs.

Terry Lane

TL,
my vote goes to Lucretia Borgia, same as my Allin. Take care.
