anyone know which book of patterns, or where to get the patterns for the common sass guns, like colt and Vaquero blkackhawk, bisley etc..I already have a few friends that seen my latest project and are interested..

I seen those and have one from Tandy, But I cant find a place that sells them that actually tells you whats in the book before you buy it..they just say 25 patterns or whatever..

Hey Guys,
Each of my holster patterns come with ten different patterns.  They are designed to fit:  Remington 1858 w/8" barrel, Remington 1875 w/7 1/2" & 5 1/2" barrels, Remington 1890 w/5 1/2" barrel; Colt 1873 SAA, Bisley, Thunderer and Lightning in 7 1/", 5 1/2" and 4 3/4" barrels; Colt 1860 w/8" barrel; Colt 1851 Navy w/7 1/2" barrel; Ruger Vaquero, New Vaquero, Bisley Vaquero and Bird's Head Vaquero, with 7 1/2", 5 1/2" & 4 5/8" barrels; and, Smith & Wesson Schofield w/7 1/2" barrel.  They may fit some other wheel guns as well, but there is no sure-bet.

On the earlier patterns, before Ruger came out with it New Vaquero, the Colt holsters aren't labled as fitting the New Vaqueros, but they will.  Also, most of the early Colt 1873 holster patterns will fit the Remington 1875 and '90 without modification.

I gots them patterns Marshall, everone, and consider them top drawer but right now I am holding my breath fer the promised videos.  It would seem thet Mr Ghormley is doing all better now and back to work again, great news from my vantage point.

Yeah, I keep tryin' to put them pesky DVDs together, but folks want soooooo much scratch to run a camera.  Physically, my hands will never be back to what they was at the turn of the century, but financially, it's taking me even longer to bounce back.  Some days it just sucks to be self-employed.

But, if you want me to make some DVDs, I just need about 2,000 people to call Tandy Leather Factory and tell 'em you want to buy how-to DVDs by Will.  If they start seein' dollar signs, they'll get more interested in buyin' any DVDs I make.  Simple law of supply and demand.

Here are two holsters that are a modified versions of Will's 49er holsters.  The belt has a section of inlaid simulated Ostrich.  I liked the pattern so much that I use this rig as one of my match rigs.

Harpman, are you looking to stay with the older designs, like the one pictured, or do the modern competition styles interest you also?  Currently there are two very talented artist sharing their pattrerns with us, Will Ghormley and Jim Simmons.  Will markets his patterns through Tandy/Leather Factory and they can also be found here on CAS for sale, ask the Marshall for info.  Jims patterns are available through Hide Crafters and he has posted here on occasion.  Their patterns are very varied and different from each others.

Outrider, those are some nice looking holsters.  I also like the high ride traditional look, with Slim Jims being my overall favorite.  My taste tends to run towards a reeeal low key look in the earth tones, particularly darker browns and little to no decoration.  These, linked too, are some I made for myself a few months back, I think yo will see some similarities.  http://hometown.aol.com/slowhandbob/page2.html

A close look will show that there are actually two different patterns used here, on the three holsters.  Both versions are from the Ghormley pattern series, can you spot the differences in cut?  If you look at the main seam lines and the trigger guard swell, you should see what I am talking about.  The holster that is pictured alone, next to the shotgun belt came straight from the 49er pattern pack while the main two on the pistol belt are modifions of the Ghormley Cheyenne Pattern. 

What I wanted was a lined Slim Jim that looked as period as possible while still offering some concessions for speed of draw.  The 49er pattern has a slight roll over at the trigger guard which makes the use of fillers less desirable so my need dictated straightening this line to the top.  Having made several of the Cheyenne series holster a couple of years earlier, I new it would accept a narrow liner quite well so I started studying it a bit.  I looked at the lines and actually liked Wills Chyenne main seam roll shape better than the ones on the 49er, a matter of individual taste, and from there it was simple.  All I had to do was overlay the 49er pattern top over the Cheyenne pattern body.  Looky there Will I jist sold two sets of your patterns fer one design, whats my commision?
