My last gripframe post kinda lost it's topic. ::) ::)

But to those RATS who shoots birdsheads:
(1)  Ruger-built gripframes (I have shot these).
(2)  Qualite gripframes?  I have only seen one but they seem to have a GREAT followin'!!

How much gunsmithin' does it take to put the Qualites on a K-Vaquero?

Anyone done any at home?

Mustang, I would believe little to no smithing to change out the backstrap.  Ruger's tolerances from one gun to another for the gripframe is excellent.  I put a brace of Badger Gunfighter faux ivories on my BH's and they fit up PERFECTLY!

If these Qualite folks have their act together ... then it should be a remove and replace process.  You do know that their grips are going to be the fat BH's ones - right?  Their not going to be the gunfighter slim jim's

When I replaced mine ... much - much better hand control of my RVBH's.  Should have done it years ago. :(

Much obliged, John Boy:
I have heard them Qualites are good, but no one says much about jus' what it takes to fit 'em.
I'd really like to get a no-bullshi** testimonial from a cowboy shooter or two.

The idea is to get set up wit' a pair of Birds Head .44 Ruger Vaqueros in a Double Doc Holliday rig.  'Course then I'd have to shoot 'em as a DD & not a GF. ::)
I have changed out several grip frames from Ruger Single Sixes & Blackhawks & Bisleys & Vaqueros afore, but I have ONLY ever used factory parts.  I never needed a whole lotta filin' & reamin'.
