I doubt that there is any 250-260 grain load for the 45 Colt that is over CAS specs if it is also with in SAAMI pressure specs, it is the nature of the beast.   This is not what is refered to by anyone as a "Heavy Hunting Load" for 45 Colt.  SAAMI spec loads with this weight of bullet closely duplicate the original black powder loads for this caliber.  Although these will kill game such as deer within a reasonable range.

Down here in So. La. we seldom if ever have to shoot beyond 40 yards for deer. I have never taken a shot at a deer beyond 28 yards(paces) and that with a .30-30 or rifled slug/buckshot from a SXS 12 ga. dropped 'em too (the deer not the guns.) Never got one yet with the .45 LC but have hunted with it.

"A gun is  just a tool. No better and no worse than any other tool----- Think of it always in that way. A gun is as good--- and as bad--- as the man who carries it. Remember that."

Just one handloader/shooter's opinion: if you load (or buy for) 1,100 mv for your particular barrel lenth, based on many users research on the web, this will help you not 'hard use' your revolver's frame when talking about a two screw, 'New Model' Blackhawk in 45 Colt. Personally, I don't have more than one revolver, and intend for 'the one' to go forward with no cracks or failures other than normal, expected wear for the life of each part. Now, I'm going to cross my fingers and lower my number to around 1,050. Also, my hands and wrists just turned 50 years of age.  ;D
