Pards,

Over on the "n-ssa" forum (dont know exact web site) there  are  two photos on how to grip the 1858 remington.

It is under revolver reccomendations and is by "stefan"

I have both an uberti  and a pietta and it  seems to improve my grip on both.

Best,

Interesting post about the grip on that forum. If I grip it like the lower photo, I can't reach the hammer with the same hand. I hold mine somewhere between the two illustrated ways. Little finger completely under the grip would only work for me if I shot with a two-handed style.

i've tried that "pinky under the grip" technique and it feels weird.  not that it makes it difficult to shoot, just weird.  so, were revolvers gripped like this back in the 1860s?  it just seems to me that things were designed back then to be used as-is, and how a normal person would naturally grab something.  are there any original photos of folks gripping their revolvers with the pinky under the grip?
