Something you might be interested in is ivory polymer MASONIC GRIPS available exclusively from Larry Little @ http://www.gripmaker.com/ has just added Masonic sculpted grips to his lineup. They are listed at the bottom of his web site home page under "New Designs". I just bought two pair for my Charles Daly Classic 1873 SAAs. They have the Masonic square & compasses raised on them and you can get them on the R or L or both grip panels for just about any Colt, or clone or Ruger, or S&W sa or clone. Here's a pic of the grips:

For you purists that may want them in a pre 1900 design w/o the G in the center Larry may have them available in a few weeks. Check with him.

If any of you "purist" brothers would like a square & compasses watch chain fob or pendant w/o the "G" you can get them from Dorado Slim @ The Cowboy Emporium. http://www.cemp.com/fixin's.htm

Thats great!  Thanks for this post.

Any idea if he'll be doing any with the Scottish Rite double-headed eagle?  :)

My lodge Past Master who is a reenactor has done research and found that the G is in use shortly after the ACW.  I see no reason not to have the G unless you are doing pre-1865.  I have been reenacting with him for 20 years and he knows how to research.

Spence, that's something I can't answer for you brother. You'll have to ask Larry about that. But I sort of doubt it as there wouldn't be as much demand for them as the Blue Lodge emblem.

According to Freemasons for Dummies, the G contained within the Square & Compass originated about 1850.  "It is unknown where it originated, but since the Civil War, it has become the accepted form of the symbol in North America."
