This is advertized as a copy of a 'Colt' flask issued with Colt Army and Navy revolvers. How close is this to the 'real historic deal?'
Could an acutally original be had for a reasonable price? Im not even sure what reasonable would be for an original,,,but in leu of the 'real deal' this might be a good one to go with my Armys?

Thanks for any advice on this,

It depends upon 'your' concept of 'reasonable' - but of course an original flask can be had - in the three-figure range and up, depending upon condition.

The really good ones are gracing the cased sets - or will, as they get bought by collectors to do so.

Unless you own original Colts - or plan on owning them - the replica flask will work nicely, and display well.

Ray Riling's book on powder flasks - aptly titled 'The Powder Flask Book' - is a good reference to review.

"Reasonable" facsimile? Judge for yourself ... here is an original in a cased set of 1860's ....
