I have a challenge for USFA Forum Personnel.  I also frequent the SIGForum, and I must say that the chatter there is continuous.  As much as I love my SIGs, I love my USFA Guns more.  However, this forum is a little quiet right now and I just wanted to make sure about two things.  (1) Is there anyone out there alive and awake?  Are all OK?  (2) Have I ticked anyone off lately?  I try not to but sometimes my more Yankee City ways overcome me and I get a little rash!

So, the challenge is to please pick up the chatter more than recently.  I know I am not the only USFA nut that loves talking about USFA guns.

Doc, I'm listening.  I have a Pre-War on order, should come in sometime in May (or later?), and I'm reading this site daily.

Your title on this thread (Snow Pile In PA) got my attention.  On Friday I land in NYC and have to drive up to Scranton.  Hoo Boy.

Capt. John Fitzgerald

Doc,
Greetings from the Northwest Territories!  Yep, sure would be nice if it was a little more active around here.  Heaven knows, some of us try!
Hope you are not buried too deep in the snow back there.

Howdy,

We are now running out of room for the silly white stuff, but I don't dare complain because we do not have it as bad as New York State.  Some places are as high as 12 feet.  Forget that!

Well I enjoy a few things in life, mainly my family, and then friends, and some others, and then my hobbies, which include John Wayne and firearms.  When the two come together I freak out, which I did, so I ordered USFA's John Wayne Centennial Cased Set.  Now the waiting is going to kill me!  I ordered it when I saw an article blurp before the Shot Show, but it was well after the show that my FFL called to tell me the order was excepted.  I got serial numbers JW02 & 02JW.  Number 2 out of 25.  Not Bad!  Pinch me!  Matter of fact, hit me!  Obviously these won't be shooters, so I am just going to have to go out and shoot my USFA SAA until they show up.

Capt. John Fitzgerald

Doc,
Just out of morbid curiosity, what is the going rate for one of the John Wayne commemoratives?  Also, do you know if they are available without the holster?

With regards to the holster, I am not sure.  The Centennial Cased Set was quoted to be over $9,000.  I do not know about the Red River D Classics.

Capt. John Fitzgerald

Doc,
Now you have me curious.  I was only aware of the "Red River D" model.  Looks kind of like a Gunslinger model with JW's brand on it.  Are the cased set guns different?
Had the pleasure of meeting John Wayne back in the early 70's when he was filming McQ in Seattle.  They did a lot of shooting inside the Seattle Police Department building.  I was getting off shift one evening and one of the movie people asked me, "Do you want to be in the movie?"  Needless to say, I said YES!  Had a scene where I was walking through a doorway as he was going out (my 2 seconds of fame).  Had to walk through it a couple of times before filming (for lights, sound, etc.) and as we stood around I got to talk to him for a few moments.  Wayne really liked the police.
When it was all over with I started to walk away when one of the assistants said, "Don't you want to get paid?"  They gave me $45 cash.  Big money for a cop back in '73!

That is awesome that you got to meet John, let alone be in a movie.  I have read that John respected police and military personnel immensely.  As for myself, I was a firefighter paramedic and had thoughts about the police force, but the years went by so fast, and I got so involved in that facet of Public Safety.  My fame was being in a fight on the local news with one of our Supervisors for three years.  I was the Chief Paramedic of an Ambulance Service our Fire Departments started, which was just a consolidation of five fire departments' ambulance services, but we somehow became competition to the service owned by the local hospitals, which this one Supervisor's husband was on the board for.  I was just watching McQ the other night and was wondering how much fun he had driving the Green Hornet.  A real American Muscle Car.  What part of the movie are you in so I can check it out again?

The Red River D Classic is to be an aged blue gun with mellow Ivory stocks that have some embelleshments like the Red River D on the shovel head.  They can be had in Numbered Pairs with Serial numbers XXXXRR and RRXXXX.  You can also pick what number you want on the Numbered Pair.

The Centennial Guns come in either Blue and Case Colored or Nickel, and they are both hand engraved with 5 1/2" barrels and in .45 Colt.  Only a total of 100 guns will be made, which 25 Cased Sets will be a part of.

There is also a Winchester John Wayne Commemerative Model 1892 in High Grade or Custom Grade, which also can be had in a matched pair.

My FFL also brought back some Posters from the Shot Show of John Wayne Winchester Ammunition just for me.  I guess I am considered a John Wayne nut and a Single Action nut around here.

Sikeston Slinger

Man, I hope Winchester Ammunition has some of these posters at the NRA show in St. Louis in April...

;D

He got me (2) 22 X 17 and (2) 8 1/2 X 11 Posters.  Good Luck!
