R&D Cylinder Holster chewing

Just got an R&D conversion cylinder for my .45 Pietta 1858 Remington...Works just great except the knurled back plate is chewing the heck out of my holsters on entry and retrieval.

Any body else ever have this problem?  Does it stop eventually once a groove is worn or will it just work it's way right through?

I have thought of grinding off the knurling but don't know if it's more period correct with or with out this....any one know???

I looked at my holsters and there is no sign of that going on. Mine are slimjims and I have molded the lip of holster away from the top of the cylinder so that part doesn't touch. Maybe you can do that to stop any further rubbing of the knurled portion.
