Does anyone know the specifics on this model? I'm familiar with the Police model but not the Belt model.

Is it similar to the Navy? It appears to have a shorter barrel, but I can't tell if the frame is smaller.

I believe that the belt models were built on the Navy Frame.

Hi Ringo....

......according to McDowell's book, the Belt Revolver was one of the rarest of New Model Remingtons. It was chambered for .36 cal in percussion, and .38 rim fire when converted. Its frame was slightly smaller than the Navy, but larger than the New Model Police,....and like the Police model, the frame screws all entered from the right side of the frame. It was advertised as having a 6" barrel, but McDowell has some illustrated with 6-1/2" barrels.

......Sweet little Remington, eh?   Sure wish Uberti made a replica of this one. :)

Yes, it's well balanced visually.

A nice frontier revolver that I'd like to own.

Heck, there are only about 50 old pistols I'd buy if they made replicas of them.  ;D

Hey Charlie,......LOL........ ;D.....yea, I finally sprung for the book. I couldn't resist when I saw it on Gunbroker for $150,..got it for $155.....used but in very good condition.

Boy,....was it worth it!  What a nice book. It has a whole chapter on Remingtons, .....and even more info on the Colts. McDowell sure did alot of research.

You have a copy, too, right?

Yep I got my copy just after they published, at a gunshow in K.C. for $35.00 or $40.00 I can't remember which, but I was into Conversions then too and I jumped on the book. Been worth it's weight in gold.
Glad you got one. Recently I've been in there looking at Remingtons everyday. LOL
