Major 2

How about posting your observations of the Shot Show 2007 at SSS with hopefully a slant on Spencer Firearms, if possible?..
Two Flints

Taylor had 2 Spencers to show a Carbine & a Rifle both in 56-50
very nice, I'd say Quality is 10 out of ten. They were very nicely turned out.

Cimarron had a carbine , it also was a 10 , but I spent all of my time with Charlie Hudson talking (my) Richards Type II.
I'm thinking it was 56-50 ... I not sure if they are importing the 44/40.

Chaparral was there within the Charter Arms Booth.
they showed a yellowboy ( brass plated 73 frame ) a 73 & 76 also a 1878 Colt SXS
much like the TTn....
and Two model P Colt Clones.
Frankly, I don't see the reason for all the hoopla over these new entries.
The wood on all but the 1 - 73 & the SXS was something they call Tri-wood.
The Shotty & the other 73 had a plain straight grain maybe European walnut.
On the others they should have TRIED Wood !
I swear I could sand down a Pallet , stain it walnut ,
smoke it with a soot source like acetylene, clearcoat it with polyurethane and call it
their finish... ( in a word crappy looking )

The SXS was nice, but not at $200 more than a TTn. In fact I'll take my TTn with it's nice figured American Black Walnut  over the Chaparral.
Quality for the 73 & 76 & Model P's  6 on a Ten scale.
Only because of the real bone CH color.
The shotty a 7 .

USFA showed some CNC prototype work in progress for a Winchester 73
& a 58 Rem. C&B frame (conversion ? ) maybe in 08 or never.
Just some product testing, they said...
also the Colt Ace 22 auto... due this year
when planets align...do the deal !
