On this day in 1809, the Illlinois Territory was created by dividing the Indiana Territory. The following is a link to the Act of Congress.

The Territorial Government of Wisconsin was established on April 20, 1836. At that time we was separated from Michigan!

But then we were given Minnesota, Iowa, and parts of Dakota and Newbassky.

Just speakin' as a former 'sconsinite.
