Michael Fortune,

I had an extra character in the URL. Thanks for letting me know. It should work now. :-\

Fat fingers and crummy eyesight got me again. 5 seconds to my score.

Happens to all of us there, Chuckeroo! :o Think it goes with the territory. Think you've got a good idea there. Our club does try to have a sort of introduction at least once ot twice a year. I've participated in one as a helper. Keep us informed on how well it works............Buck 8) ::) ;) :)
I might be slow, but I'm mostly accurate.....

Buck,

We hold three a year and run two to three classes per day. This will be my 6th year of doing this. We have also taken it on the road to other clubs. To date, we have put almost 1,000 shooters through the course.

The program really works well. Potential shooters get all of the rules, a look at all of the firearm choices, leather and accessories. We provide a history of SASS, how a match is put together, what to expect at a match and the volunteerism needed to run a posse.

All of that takes about two hours. We then send them to our range where they shoot two structured stages with everything provided. Our local gun store, Atlantic Guns, provides us with cases of ammo and a few guns for the students. The class outline (on my web site) shows what we cover in general terms.

The class makes them much safer at their first actual match and, with some of the learning out of the way, they have more fun at their first outing.

I already have 20 people signed up for our first one this year and it is more than two months away! ;D
