I handled a new Pietta '58 last week at a Sportsman's Warehouse and other than a bolt drag ring the pistol was fantastic. Timing spot on with a great trigger. I was really impressed. A buddy of mine who does museum grade restorations said that he spoke w/ Allessandro Pietta at the SASS Convention in Las Vegas for better than an hour on how to improve the GW II SAA clone and said he is a very receptive & intelligent man. So, was the new '58 I handled a fluke?

I just got a new 58 from Cabela's  and the fit and finish is great it matches my other one very close and it is a Navy Arms import as well as the Ubertti that is a back-up to the pair of Pietta"s
(noe the cylenders can be switched without and trouble)

Pietta installed brand new equipment a few years ago and since then their quality has improved greatly. I owned several 58 Remingtons from 2002 - 2005 and they were as good as anything else. The only reason that I sold them was that they are too big for my hands. They shot great and fit and finish was great with minor stoneing work to slick up the innards.
