Is the length of the hammer pull the same on a uberti  opentop as it is on a uberti 51 rm conversion?
I mean the amount of distance the hammer travels to be fully cocked. Although these guns are similar I know they are of different designs. My opentops are my main match pistols and someday would like to move backward to the 51 r.m.s, so just wondering if they would feel and cock the same.

Sweettooth,

Unfortunately no.  The '51 hammer throw is closer to the '73.  The Open Top is noticeably shorter in throw.  I often change guns from match to match and even before and after lunch.  I don't have a real problem with the difference in hammer throw, although my "go-to" guns are Open Tops.

Thanks for the info. I shoot opentops gunfighter and sometimes my 73s but the 73s  not as natural in this style. Any chance an octogon barrel from a R.M. will fit an opentop?

Sweettooth,

Well ................ I haven't tried that.  I suppose I should just for fun.  As many multi caliber Open Tops as I have set up, no one has asked for a '51 R-M barrel.  I am betting the '51 barrel will fit up to the OT.  Only one problem ................... no rear sight.

PS:  I also shoot gunfighter!!!!  Awesome!!!

The rear site on the opentop is so low with a bunch of practice it might not be missed. Ive talked to 51 rm shooters that say they dont really use the hammer sight any way just kind look down the reciever.
Also the brass bal on the 51 is much shorter than the opentop.
I just like the octogon barrels. But Im afraid one match and I would go back to my ots.
  Interesting thought though.
