1858 remmie, Army vs Navy

Howdy Pards,
Just what's the difference between the Army and Navy models in the Remington 1858 ??? Also I have a 1858 Remmie brass frame with the long (7.5 inch?) bbl, never fired, exelent condition, If I some one's intristed in it. $130.oo OBO.

Navy is a shorter barrel 36 cal .. the Army is a 44 cal 7.5 barrel .

Thanks much for the info; seems to me that I heard somewhere that the frame was a tad smaller too.

You're right, Tom, the frame is smaller on the New Model Navy. The .36 cal ones available today all seem to have the large frame with just a different bore and a shorter barrel.

I think historically the two primary differences between the Army and Navy revolvers was barrel length and caliber.  Navies were .36 and had something around a 7 1/2" barrel.  The Armies were .44 and had an 8" barrel.  Why these differences I have no clue.  For what it's worth.
