Howdy from Germany. I have above Old Remington replica from the 70s in pretty good shape which I like to have converted to my prefered western cartridge .44 Colt, the "new" inside lubricated version with .429 diameter bullets like Black Hills Ammo. I shoot this ammo with smokeless loads under 200 gr bullits in most of my pistols & rifles including Uberti Colt conversions.
The German gunsmith who accepted to task was able to do the drawings for a conversion cylinder and the conversion ring but his stumbling block was to make a new ocatogon barrel with .429 diameter bore at a price that was not cost-prohibitive.
My question: Is there a source in the US were I can get the parts to convert my Remington as period correct as possible to .44 Colt (BHA specs!) without losing an arm and a leg. Wish to keep the frame, will need barrel, cylinder, conversion ring ideally with loading gate, hammer, ejector assembly and possibly some smaller parts. I found a competent gunsmith now specialized in Western guns who did my LA rifle conversions and SAA tuning. He should be able to assemble/re-build the gun with these partsl.
Thanks for your advice.
