Well I just about completed my Frontiersmen 51's. Wife & kids bought me two sets of polymer ivory grips from Gripmaker last Christmas and I finally go around to fittin and staining them. Got to admit they look good for my first set.
But now my 51 conversion I made is looking shabby. It's an EMF Hartford series but with a brass back strap and trigger guard, blued barrel and color cased frame the dark grips just aren't doing it any good in my eyes. Like most of my pistols with brass it suffers from lack of polish. Most likely will stay that way too.
Just wondering what will look good on it without having to buy a set of everything to find what I like! Any got a pictures of yours or someone elses that I can look at? Didn't like the ivory polymer ones from my other pistols so thats out. But would like to see any others. Thanks

Who makes those? Stripped the factory grips yesterday. Revealed a nice grain that looks like walnut. Put a light coat of clear polyurthane varnish on last night. Looks good so far. Will fit them to the gun and see how it looks on it tonight.

Howdy There,

Never much cared for the look of brass triggerguards and grip frames.

Took mine to the local car/motorcycle chrome plate outfit. Got a nice nickle plate job for 10 bucks a part!

Looks great and is super easy to care for. Here in Cincinnati I use D&G Custom Chrome. Tell 'em not to lay it on too thick.

These outfits are used to plating bumpers so there is an increase in thickness. No problem w/ backstraps and triggerguards.

Wouldn't do frames, cylinders or barrels at a bumper plating place.

Howdy!

I LOVE the look of brass with the various white grips!  (Each to his own, eh, Cincinnati Slim?  :D )

Of course, the tarnished brass looks MUCH more authentic, but polished brass and Ivory looks really rich.  To me.  ;)

I'm one of the weirdos who sometimes  polishes my 1866 Improved Henry - but it can attract attention from neer-do-wells and hostiles.

Got one them 1860 snubbies with the brass back strap and trigger guard. Stripped the light colored varnish off of them and put a Bombay somethingorother color on them and love them! But hated the way them looked on the 51. Go figure!! ::)

My 51 begged for a set of Gripmakers Williams Eagles.... Custer & Hickok Eagles aren't bad either.

With the Civilian version's Silver plated trigger guard & back-strap it's head turner
when planets align...do the deal !
