Some people will always think "It can't happen to me!".  And when they go to the hospital, it will be the manufacturers fault, the government's fault, their wife's fault, the barking dog's fault....

Silver Creek Slim,

I didn't buy them from Cabela's so no starter kit.  I bought them from Doc Neeley here in CASCity.  I got the pair for $300 shipped.  Couldn't pass up a deal like that.  From my inspection and from what I was told they have never been fired.  I think it was a good deal.  I can't wait to get some balls caps and powder and make some smoke.

Bristow Kid

Sundance you had said once you could get the nipples from Cabela's.  Do you happen to know the part number for them?  I wanna order and extra set plus a nipple wrench.

I found a capper that works for my 58's with no mods to gun or capper.  Was getting balls and caps and powder at the local sporting goods store.  And deceided to pick up an straight line capper too.  Its made by Traditions Performance Firearms part # A1203 and it works perfectly for my 58's.  I am hoping the rain quits and I can shoot Sunday.  Will give a full report but so far works fine.

Well Pards I was hopin' the next time I posted on here.  It would be to give a full report on the first firering of my new 58's.  But mother nature has deceided I am not allowed to shoot them yet.  It rained for 3 days straight and now has dipped below freezing till next week sometime.  When I get the chance I will post a full report and maybe some pictures if I can find someone to take them.  Will keep y'all posted.

I understand Mother Nature stopping your shooting.  I have a 25 and 100 yard range on my rancho I live on in the Sierras, but could not use it for four months because of "red flag fire danger"  Had no rain after March, and by July we couldn't even mow our lawn because of the tinder dry conditions.  I could picture some BP embers burning down the Grass Valley area!  When we finally got rain a few weeks ago, I had 8 or 9 author guns I had to shoot for articles.  First day I could find time to shoot was 40 degrees, wet, and windy (UGH!!!!)

This saturday, however, I will be sighting in my new 1`858 Remmie .45 Colt gated conversion, and then shooting it at a match on Sunday!  Now the question is: "Do I pair it with my Uberti Forged frame 1858 with an R&D cylinder, or my new 1872 Open Top in .45 Colt!

OK, let's try this again. I pair my gated one with my R&D one. They make a great matched pair of mismatched pistols. They feel and shoot the same. You may want to try that. Of course, your open top is a very good feeling gun, too. Heck, life really is hard with decisions like that to make.  ;D

Well mother nature dealt me another blow today.  She lovingly droped them temps to single digits and below zero windchills.  This weekend shotgun deer season opens and runs for the next 3 weekends.  My range that I use is right in the middle of prime hunting area.  So I proably won't have the 58's out till Christmas.  Maybe by then Santa will bring me a set of holsters for them.  Updates will be posted when I can shoot them.

The South got a cold blow from old man winter too ..was suppose to do some shooting tomorrow ..but with wind chill at 19 degree`s maybe not ...guess i could load some smokeless and try out an indoor range with my conversion cylinders .... haven`t shot any smokeless out of them as of yet ...was thinking of trying that trailboss powder ..hear it is a good target load powder ..I`ll probally be the only one there in buckskins and shooting 1858 remmies ya think .... :o
