Howdy Pards,
I have an  EMF Hartford that is having a jamming/binding problem. Last weekend I had just
sent 5 rounds down range no problems. On my second 5 the trigger/bolt spring broke. Okay,
that's an easy fix. Took it home, torn it down, cleaned everything, re-oiled and re-assembled
with a new spring. The next day I take it out again and the same type of jam happens, but,
after I clear it no more trouble. So I'm thinking it's operator failure. I decide to try again today
and notice a "hitch" on the first full cock and then it binds up on the second. This happened
the same way on 4 reloads.
I bought this pistol new 5 years ago and it has been a main match gun throughout that time.
Other than replacing a spring now and again nothing serious.
Any ideas? Am I overlooking something?
Thanks,
CBG

check the firing pin hole in the recoil sheild for peening or feel for a bur were the firing pin goes thru the frame and if it's peened out just a little it will cause that type of problem. Can use a brass rod long enough to go thru the barrel and contact the frame at the firing pin hole and lightly tap it. The peening will continue and may need a smith to add a hardened bushing like the original Colts. or may last a long time just knocking back the burring.

stepnmud,
Thank you for the suggestion. I will check it out. I'll probably take it to a gunsmith
to have it looked at and see if there're any other problems.
Thanks Again,

You may want to call EMF. I had the same problem and they had me send it back. The bushing was binding. When it came back it was fixed and they also chamfered the barrel to 11 degrees. I didn't have to pay nothing but shipping! It may be worth your while..

Howdy Samuel,
I sent them an e-mail and they gave me the name and contact info for the man who does
all their work. They said I could send it back to them but going direct would be faster.
Since the gun is out of warranty I expected to have to pay to have work done. There are
a couple of good gunsmiths in this area I can take it to and that will save on shipping.
Thanks for the input.
