Since i couldn't find any online tutorials on how to field strip the M-1873 SAA or it's clones, I decided to wing it the best I could remember from my cap-and-ball tinkering days.

This may not be the right, best, or conventional way to do it... but it works for me.
your milage may vary.

This series of photographs takes up from where the base pin, catch mechanism, and cylinder have already been removed.   I figure most everybody knows how to dismount their cylinder.

Use ONLY fitted non-tapering-bladed Gunsmith's screwdrivers, and fit the driver bit to each screw slot length and width to prevent damage to the screw heads.

I had to grind the socket of my screwdriver down a bit, as it was hitting and scratching the humps of the backstrap when I was turning out the top screws.

I like to work from the front of the frame to the rear when stripping; opposite when re-assembling.

There's the trigger.

I am currently polishing and stoning some of the parts to smooth up the action and improve the trigger pull.  There are others out there who are probably far more proficient than I at that trade, and I'd love it if they put up a "SAA Tuneup for Dummies" page!
Anyone can be normal...

But it takes imagination to be really weird!
