I clicked on the 12 stop Richards only because there weren't buttons for a S&W American (First Model) nor a Merwin & Hulbert Type I.  ;D

Seth, I've already done a type II, & I've converted the following, these are my personal guns:
A 1862 pockett Navy to .38 short colt,
A 1851 navy to .38 long colt cut down to a 4 inch barrel,
A 1858 Remington  Army to .44 colt, (one of my favorites, see photo)
Two Rogers & Spencers to .44 colt.

A twelve stop would be the easiest, just add six more bolt stops to the cylinder. The long cylinder conversions don't have the lines the other guns do so they don't appeal to me, and I'm not really enamoured of the Theur........

So, I'm gonna do the Richards on a Colt (as soon as I find one), and just for fun, I'm doing (as we speak) a 1849 Wells Fargo to .22 long rifle, its gonna be my trail (snake) gun, we have some mighty big timber rattlers here in Indiana....

By the way, those are two nice 1861 conversions Kenny Howell did for you

Quick Fire

I've got a better idea Bill, you can covert my 51 Navy for me. ;D

I have a pair of Colt Signature seris I'd like converted. If your interested give me an idea of the cost and if you want to discuss doing them. I'd line the barrels so I didn't have to use heeled bullets, that part I can do but it wouldn't matter if you wanted to do that to. Just an idea.

Ottawa Creek Bill

Fellas,
I appreciate being asked to do these for you, but again, I'm not a licensed gunsmith, its not legal for me to do your firearms, plus, I don't like time constraints. The pistols I've done so far are my own, and I don't relish the thought of ruining someone else's firearm.

Besides, you would have to have it reblued or finished when you got it back, because I don't have anyway to do it other then send it out to have it done......

I work on these fun projects between other fun projects. If any of you wanted to try it, I would be glad to answer any questions you would have about the process....But, be prepared to spend a lot of money for machinery & tooling........ :'( :'( :'(

Cannon Fodder

Well I guess OCB is not going to make any guns for us.

DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!

Lone Gunman

Y'all are bein' too easy on Bill, he does this for the challenge so I'm casting my vote for a LeMat  :o

Of course a Starr double action would be OK too.  A Root sidehammer converted to .22 would be an interesting pocket pistol, although I've never seen a period example. Other possibilities would be an 1861 Whitney or a Henry Dance, Dixie has repros of either. Or how about a Patterson?  Or the Colt Revolving rifle?

as for a challenge, how about the LeMat?  That would be awsome, even though I don't care for the LeMats

I personaly would like to see a Patterson converted.  It just doesn't get much slicker than a patterson as for as smooth and classy lines.

....................... how's about maybe providing the specs/info/pics/drawings/etc on the tools/fixtures/etc ...........................

I'd be willing to buy the "software" needed to make the "hardware" necessary to make the conversion parts. ;)

It just ain't fair...you havin' all those tools to make all those nice conversions. :'(

I second that.  Any specs would be absolutely great.  Specs on the other parts like the hand and the ejector would be wonderful.  I'm starting my 1st Model conversions next weekend and that would save tons of time.  Thanks for all the info you've given Bill.  We all really appreciate it.
