Howdy Doody

Finally, I have met Forty Rod and got to shake hands. That is one more I can now put a face to a pard. It was a pleasure for me, and a surprise too.
Still keeping an eye out for Marshal Halloway, Pinto Being, Durango Kid and others. Especially Frank Dalton and he and I live in the same town.
Sometimes things come together in the strangest ways and by total surprise.
Funny thing was........I knew it was Forty right off and I am terrible with names/faces usually.

Glad for ya', Mr. Doody (did I say that??  ::))

One of the things on my list is to one day get to Ontario for one of the lunch get togethers, and meet Forty Rod in person; we both will likely be surprised.

Yeah El Peludo, you can say that. Lot's of folks just call me doody. In fact, last weekend Sweetwater, who is as polite and as sweet as can be, just had to say to me "Howdy, your smoke smells like doody"

I wish I didn't live so far or I would certainly enjoy lunch with the bunch for sure. :)

Well............................I thought you were coming down clear about last December when I was the match director and wrote both days worth of stages. I made the whole deal kinda retro and used stuff from years ago, like rope a calf, sit in the outhouse and stuff like that, but it had a Christmas theme to it. I had one stage with 10 rifle and 10 pistol and all the targets were in the shape of a Christmas tree. I hauled a lot of steel for that one and won't be repeating it, for sure.
Seemed like those that shot the match liked it and I looked for you everywhere, but you wern't there.
No doubt my turn to write up some more will be coming up in the months ahead, so I will let you know when and you can come on down and shoot with me and the 5 Dogs gang. We will toss back a cold one once the shootin is over and be pards for life. How would that be?

I like surprises, todays surprise was meeting up with GunClickRick. Yeah, I was really surprised. In fact I was really glad he came on down to our monthly to visit and especially to drop off western magazine to Calgary Kate to send to the troops. Then to my amazement my new pard presented me with a piece of nostalgia, a 8mm tape of the Howdy Doody show. How cool was that? Thanks again Rick so much,  if you read this. He's a cowboy, no denying that.

I walked up an' said, "Howdy, Doody."  I couldn't hardly believe it when he told me he'd heard that before.  Dang, I thought I was bein' real original.

Well, Forty Rod, you can call me anything pard, just don't call me late for dinner. Actually, when I first changed to the Howdy alias, Rocky Meadows who at that time lived in NorCal, never did call me Howdy at all. It was always just Doody to her. I liked that too. It is a funny alias and I get a bunch of silly stuff with it, sort of a door opener kind of thing, although the door usually hits me in the noggin.
Even at that Cajon shoot, Sweetwater told me that my smoke and boom really smelled like Doody. Kids have no idea who Howdy was. There are generation gaps at large.
Anyway, I am always glad to know folks I have first met on the internet. I knew it was Forty as soon as I noticed him. I don't know why it took so long to run into him, or Old Scout or Cliffhanger and others. :)

Howdy, running into Old Scout and Cliffhanger at the same time can sometimes be like running into a sausage grinder face first.  Throw in some of the rest of our Grumpy Lunch Bunch and it can get downright painful.  Hint: don't EVER let on you don't like green food.  ;D

Actuall, I do like eggs and ham, but I ain't too sure about the green part - guess it might be worth a try, though.  ;D

Not a problem Rick, I could see you could barely even hobble. Thanks for coming down and checking us out. It was a pleasure pard. Hope that pic they took of us didn't shatter the lens. I saw you and CK doin' some huggin' boy that is gutsy with her husband right nearby and heavily armed  ;D I am sure she appreciated the mags for the troops. The troops will really get a boot out of them. Thanks again for the film.
Get that leg in good order and we will posse on up and have a good ol' time.  :)
