Only Rugers allowed?

Wow! I found out over the past couple of days that the only new single action revolvers that I can buy in my home state of Massachusetts are Rugers. Now I would probably decide on Rugers anyway, but according to our AG's list I cannot buy any other single action guns. I could not even buy a new Colt if I had the money. This how ridiculous gun laws in this state are. This is all based on "consumer protection".The only way I could buy a different single action is to find a used one made before 1998 and originally sold in Massachusetts. Makes me want to move to Vermont!!!!!!!(No state gun laws)

Where have you been? We've been dealing with this situation here since 1998.

By the way, there was an attempt to get Single Action revolvers and 'target pistols' exempted from the AG's rules last summer. The bill bounced back and forth in legislature from committee to committee for several months, was passed by the House, and finally came up for a vote in the Senate. GOAL was lobbying heavily to get this bill passed into law. They put the word out to as many clubs and organizations as they could for members to call their legislators and tell them to vote for the bill. At the last minute, some anti-gunners managed to strip out all the Single Action language from the bill, and it passed with the provisions for 'target pistols' but without any mention at all of Single Action revolvers.

Did you call your legislators and tell them how you wanted them to vote?

The only new Single Action revolvers legal for sale in this state, that the manufacturer has bothered to send to the state for testing, are still Rugers.

Nothing will change unless we make it happen. I shudder to think what will happen if the Democratic candidate for Governor gets elected with our heavily Democratic Legislature. Things could get worse. Rather than retreating to Vermont, how about staying and working for change? One party rule is scary. Be sure to vote in 5 weeks for Leutenant Governor Healy, and tell all your friends.

By the way, there are a few other SA revolvers made with transfer bars that I'm sure would meet the AG's requirements, but the manufacturer's are not interested in submitting them for approval.
That's bad business! How long do you think I'd stay in operation if it cost me money every time I pulled a job? If he'd pay me that much to stop robbing him, I'd stop robbing him.

Ya probably inherited every penny ya got!

Driftwood Johnson,

I appreciate your reply and agree that we need to stand up for ourselves. I have just recently started shooting revolvers and have only had my LTC a few months. Prior to this I have only owned shotguns and .22 rifles to hunt small game. I never paid much attention to this before and I should have.
I was just surprised and frustrated that this was the state of affairs.
