Have an older Navy Arms 58 Rem., which works and shoots well with one excpetion.  The loading lever is loose and comes out of the latch after every shot.  The problem is that the pivot hole that attaches the lever to the frame has become stretched out of shape and makes the lever too loose to engage the latch securely.  Even though it was made by Uberti, that was back in 1974, and the specs have changed a bit so that new parts don't fit.

My question; can the hole be welded solid and then drilled to fit?  Would soldering or brazing be better for such thin metal?

Got me an seventies model Uberti.  That thing's a mess but I got it runnin'.

SFT, have ya thought about drillin' the hole out larger then fittin' a bigger screw in it?

All I did was name it 'n get it started. The posse made it great. A debt I can never repay. Thank you, mi amigos.

Then I'd have to make the hole bigger in the frame.  The thing is the hole in the loading lever has been stretched and enlarged to one side, so a bigger screw would still be off center.

Try this. Silver solder the hole shut. Drill it out with the same size drill as the dia of the non threaded portion of the screw. You can get silver solder at the local hardware or Home Depot. It takes a torch to heat the metal hot enough to flow the solder. Dress it off with a flat file, dril a new hole and that should get you shooting again and when it wears (and it will) just repaet the process.
You could braze it and redrill it also.
