I've Been Ill

Don't know if I've been missed or not but for the last 5 weeks I've been very ill.  An infection in a saliva gland led to an abcess in my jaw bone which caused the right side of my face to swell to the point where it actually closed my right eye.  It made me absolutely miserable and unable to work.  I finally broke down and went to see my doctor.  He freaked out when he saw me and put me on mega-doses of antibiotics and strongly advised I go to the emergency room within 48 hours if there was no improvement.  It started to drain and got a little better within that 48 hour window.  That, combined with the fact that I have no medical insurance caused me to not go to ER.  I am still not quite over it, but it has drained to the point where my face almost looks normal again...  (did it ever really look normal???  ).  My doc now advises me to seek out a ear, nose and throat guy but I have no idea how I'm going to pay him, having missed 4 weeks of work.

Anyway, I just wanted to pop in to say "Howdy", and update anyone who missed me of what was going on.  I ask all who believe to pray for me.  I believe it is my personal relationship with God that has brought me through this and continue to pray that He will bring me back to good health.

Now, if I may, a gentle, brotherly reproof: One of the things I believe as part of my faith is that God really does provide for those who are truly in need, but He doesn't automatically give it to UPS for delivery to your doorstep. You shouldn't have waited and endangered the health He gave you - you should have gone to the ER and given to Him the worry about where the money will come from. I'm not trying to preach to the choir here, I'm just saying it the way I see it.

There's an old Yiddish saying: Your health comes first; you can always hang yourself later

Howdy Amigo,

     I'm sorry to hear of your illness, and will add you to my prayers. My miseries are almost like a list titled "what hasn't happened yet". I would be a good poster boy for "the sick and injured Cowboy Action Shooter". I just found that the increase in pain in my back (two surgeries there already) is a new compression fracture of my L3 vertibra. The surgery is almost a done deal, as the injury is well visible with mylogram. I meet with the surgeon soon, and will go through the cut, mend, and rehab process for what will be my 12th major surgery. My friends kid me about changing my alias to "Lucky Beauregard", and not wanting to be next to me in an electrical storm. <GGG>.
     Get well soon Amigo, and back to work. Remember that the Lord has his finger on your heart, and that he has more than one finger.  He has enough for all who seek his mercy.

Thanks for the kind words one and all!  The swelling is almost gone and I've been feeling a lot better and have gone back to work.   
I continue to pray.

Beau... Maggie Three Feathers and I will be praying for you.  Maggie has had 10 back surgeries, including 2 spinal fusions.  She is now considered a "failed back surgery syndrome" and has an implanted morphine pump to control the constant pain, along with taking pain pills by mouth as needed.  Back injuries are the worst of all and if they can't fix it with the first few operations you're stuck with it for life.  We do hope your procedure goes well and is successful.  Prayers up.

Hi there Danny, Real pleased that you are on the mend and now back at work, and all this stuff realy can knock ya around not only the body  but mentaly as well.
And Beau I sure hope that the upcoming opp. works and that's the end of it and you go along okay from then on.
I have been thru a similar ongoing deal with Colon Cancer and complications, in and out of hospital
and ya think it's never goin to stop but thank the Lord I'm clear and have kept out of Opp. Theaters for 18 months.

Funny you should post this..(not that yer sick..) Last month I went to work and had a fever and went home, Got up the next morning and my face had swollen up and turned purple..my nose was 3 times the normal size. I was sooo sick In the bed throwin up and "poopin" at the same time. I lost 18 pounds in 1 1/2 weeks. (of course the doc gave me compazine and i forgot I couldn't take it as it made me sicker. Gave me a shot of Rocefin and a bucket of antibotics the size of horse pills. I was in bed for 2 weeks straight. took about 2 more weeks to get my sea legs again. They think it started as a sinus infection. My wife said I looked like a purple Shreck!  Better now but my face still looks like I had a sunburn...

Hope yer on the road to a full recovery, and doing well.

Hope no one else gets this stuff...it aint no fun..
