I have been in touch with Ed at the 7th Michigan, and he has access to very nice brass Spencer blanks that work either in 56-56 or 56-50 Spencers (modified to centerfire), and in the Armisports and originals with Lane extractors.

I tried some of the pre-production ones at Old Sacramento. They are loud, holding 40+ gains of FFFG and crumble foam (I reloaded some with about 45 grains). They are much better and louder than the plastic ones that use 209 shotgun primers and about 15 grains of powder.

The bassic brass is .500 linebaugh, so the rim is a tad small for the original side blade type extractors. They are loose enough, though, where they slide out of the chamber if you tip it up. They extract well with the originals with central Lane extractors, as well as the Armi Sports (which all come with Lanes).

He is building an order of 5,000 to get them made up. They are reloadable, also. The overall length includes a necked down, rounded front to assist in feeding. They will be about $1.00 each loaded, and should be a lot cheaper for just brass.

Contact me by PM if you have an interest. Neither Ed or I will make any money on this. We are just facilitating, and will hook folks up with the manufacturer direct. I guess he will take credit cards, also. I have signed up for a minimum of 250 myself.
