G'day,

As I currently do the BP rifle thing only, and my Marlin CB Ltd likes .454" in hardcast for smokeless, would sizing softcast Big Lubers to .452" or .454" be best? Will be using a press mounted Lee sizer followed by pan lube.

Thanks,

Mucus

I'd try them big lubers unsized first.

I shoot the PRS boolit in all of my .45s and all I do is pan lube em. 8)

With soft cast yer most likely ok if they chamber easy like.  The gun'll swage 'em to the exact fit.  I'd give it a go.

If cast fairly soft (wheel weights or wheel weights sweetened with a little lead) you can run em any size you like unless ya REALLY download em.  As soon as ya light em off, the resultant swat in the tail will make em bump up to barrel throat size.  If ya run really light charges, or if ya cast em a little too hard, ya need to make sure they are .454 or bigger for your gun as they won't obdurate easily.  That is why commercial bullets needed to be .454 in your gun.  Even the hard commercial bullets would be ok at .452 if ya REALLY spank em hard (a hunting load).
