Captain Tanglefoot

Reckon I'm the freshest fish so I thought I'ld introduce myself. I traded a friend of mine a never fired 2nd generation Colt 1st model Dragoon for his brand new never fired Spencer. He told me about this site when we swapped and I have been pickin up pointers from ya'll for about a month now. Finally got all my cartridge makin's and fired my spencer for the 1st time this past Saturday. What a pleasure it was. I am not a competitive shooter just a lover of the old smoke poles and cap & ball revolvers. I am a Confederate Artillery reenactor here in the "Old Dominion" and Captain of a 6 (full size) gun Battery. I never plan on using the Spencer on the reenacting field, just for shooting on the farm for fun. It is an honor to be part of this society where, there is such a wealth of knowledge. I look forward to posting with you boys for a long while.
Your Humble Servant,

Nope, ya don't get off that easy.  Ya gots to tell us what kind of Spencer, what caliber.  Then ya gots to tell us about your artlllery pieces.  Then ya gots to tell us where we can see ya shoot them big guns.  Breathing in that sulphur smoke cleans out the sinus's, doncha know.
Civilize them with a Krag . . .

My Spencer is the 56-50 carbine. My Artillery unit is the 1st Stuart Horse Artillery. We have two bronze 6 pdrs, a bronze 12 pdr field Howitzer, a 3" inch Ordnance Rifle, A 10 pdr Parrott Rifle and an iron 12 pdr Napoleon. One of the 6 pdrs. is my personal gun. We mostly are reenactors but the other 6 pdr has been known to shoot in the NSSA at fort Shenandoah under a different unit name as there was already a 1st SHA there. The Parrott Rifle will be horse drawn up in Ohio this week for the 60+ mile long "Morgan`s Raid Event". Three of the guns will be at the "Battle of Stanardsville" reenactment near Stanardsville Va. later this month. I personally dont shoot NSSA or participate in the horse drawn aspects. I really enjoy the static reenacting and from time to time a little target shooting with the big guns on a farm.
