Hi,

Besides being cheap, I also have a lot of .45 Colt brass arround.
So I was wondering, could you shorten the Colt brass and use it in a schofield?
Also what would be a nice load, easy on an original gun, 20gr?
Thanks

You can get fair results cutting Colt cases for Schofield use.  Now, some actual schofield guns may not wanna eject colt cases due to the smaller rim size, (cases may slip through the star)  but then again they may do ok.

Be careful to trim em exactly the same and to debur and chamfer the cases.

20 grains sounds too light, unless ya use a wad, in schofield brass.  Original Schofield was loaded with 28 grains, but in cut down modern Colt cases, yer probably talking 24 or 25 to get some compression without a wad.  The original load was I think a 225 or 230 grain bullet, so a 200 would be "easy" on the gun.
