I still haven't decided on which lever gun to get, but this one has me REALLY interested. It seems as though .454 Casull loads may be equal to or more potent than .45-70. And you can also shoot .45 LC out of this gun. The reviews that I have found for this particular model are much more flattering than what I epected for a PUMA rifle. Is this the perfect combination for hunting and CAS? Anyone use one of these guns in CAS?

I've been shooting the Rossi made 92s since they first came out in about 1978, and have always been pleased with them. If the .454 Casull is equal or better than the .45-70, I may have to add one of those to my collection. Found this on GunBlasts:

Comparing 45-70 light bullet factory loads to the 454 works out well for the 454.  To compare a BP loaded 500 gr. load to it, then it depends own your defination of power.  To take the 45-70 up in pressure in a strong action like a modern Marlingn 95 or even better a Ruger #1 and the 454 gets lost in the dust.

But despite that it would be a lot of power in a light handy package.
