When yer pot is runnin' good, but yer metal is a mite on the soft side, just toss in a handful of 'em heathen boolits.  The hard crayon lube makes a fair flux and burns rite off.  Then, when yer castin' 'em Big Lube™ boolits ya kin sit back and grin cuz yer makin' the best use possible of 'em cheep hardcast heathen fad powder boolits ;D ;D ;D.

In some junk box I picked up at an auction years ago was a Tang can full of those Hornady hard cast lead bullets that had the knurled sides (no lube grooves) and some kind of white powdery dry lube.   Every so often I throw 5 or 6 of them in and light the smoke with a match and stir the pot.

Ho Mason,

Fire in the Hills at Boyceville, WI this weekend.  It's the stage SASS championship.  Sounds like great weather comming up.  I'll have a good report come monday.

I just had a pard give me a bucket of 'em hard cast boolits of some strange design.  No good for shootn' with Holy Black, but when mixed with the dead soft lead donated by another fine pard, it works up into a good bp alloy.  I'll be shootn' some of 'em this weekend.

Retirement is comming up, then some shootin' "out west". . .

Being a "scrounge", i use range pick-ups for the same purpose.  I sort them into Hard; - those not deformed, or with nice crayon wax in the grooves, and Soft; - jacketed bullets, HB wadcutters etc.

I'm lucky. I got a pile of lead bricks from the X-ray room of a Doctor's office being rebuilt. Added some bar tin and I have years worth of ingots. So I use the heathen smokeless bullets as intended, with heathen smokeless powder.
