I am trying to decide what kind of rifle to purchase.  I have it narrowed down to either the Taurus Thunderbolt or the Marlin 1894.  Both of which will be chambered in .357 Magnum.  I was just wondering if anyone had good or bad experiences with either one of these guns.

Been shootin' a Marlin '94 CS since December '97.  Replaced the carrier last year.

Gottah Cowboy that was just fine 'til I messed with it.  Don't know what I did wrong but I'll fix it.

I don't know about the Taurus.  I do know I got a Taurus PT-111 for sale.  Replaced it with a Glock 26.....

All I did was name it 'n get it started. The posse made it great. A debt I can never repay. Thank you, mi amigos.

The Thunderbolt has had mixed reviews, the Marlin is pretty solid and has a long history with 1000's of shooters.  I'd say play it safe with the Marlin.

Have one of each in the cart.................For reliability the Marlin wins hands down

Sounds like I should go with the Marlin.  Which is what I was thinking.  I have always wanted a lever action gun.  So, I will start looking for one.

Thanks for everyones input on this.

Start with the Marlin, I suppose in a year or so, you might find a Thunderbolt that been gone over at a reasonable price. Then you'll have 2 to play with ;D

I don't think the Thunderbolt has been released yet in 357. If I remember right it may come out later this year, but with some of the problems they have had with the 45's it could be next year.
