New method for scoring Stage DQ/DNF?

Had a question come up this weekend about the scoring for Stage DQ and Did Not Finish.  The shooter was saying that a stage DQ is (or will be) scored as 30 seconds +5 seconds for each shot in the stage (IE 24 shots =120 seconds + 30 seconds for a total score of 150 Seconds).  Checking the latest copy of the SASS match management program, it lists the Stage DQ as 999.00.  Has anyone else heard of this, or is it just a local club scorring method?  Not trying to rock the boat, just looking for consistency.

Far as I know a SDQ is 999.  That other calkylayshun might be fer a total time scored match?

There are 2 different types of scoring systems and each one handles DQ or DNF differently.

DQ: 999.99
DNF: 999.90

Total Time:
DQ: 30 seconds + 5 seconds for each target.
DNF: 5 seconds for each target.

The purpose for the 999.99 etc in rank scoring is to be sure they are last; and the 999 would be just above that.

But with total time scoring, folks began to see that a stage DQ was essentially the same as a Match DQ.  So folks came up with an alternative method.
Now I'll tell you what I do at a couple clubs I score for that use total time.  The problem is that we have a WIDE range of shooters and some may take more time than the 5 seconds per miss or 5 seconds plus 30.  So I make sure that a DNF is at least 5 seconds more than the slowest time (if it is more than the listed calcuations) and at least 10 seconds more for a DQ.  That way folks get the score they earned but a DNF would always be more time than the slowest shooter.
