Number of physicians in the US: 700,000.
Accidental deaths caused by physicians per year: 120,000.
Accidental deaths per physician: 0.171 (US Dept. of Health & Human Services).

Number of gun owners in the US 80,000.000.
Number of accidental gun deaths per year (all age groups): 1,500.
Accidental deaths per gun owner 0.0000188.

Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangers than gun owners.
Fact: Not everyone owns a gun, but most people have at least one doctor.

Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets out of hand.

As a Public Health Measure I have withheld the statistics on lawyers for fear that the shock could cause people to seek medical aid.

Perhaps we should have a 15 day waiting period to see a doctor?  ;D

I love my dogs, I'm real attached to my guns, and I'm right partial to my wife.

This has been circulating on the Internet for over 10 years.  I haven't been able to turn up a source and have no idea if any of the information presented is true.

If I had a quarter for every time I've seen this, I'd be a very rich man!

Doc Bonecutter

Yeah, seen it again and again.....data is extrapolations of nebulous information and guesses, mostly brought to you from the Clinton administration, using the same logic that called a drug-related shooting death of a 23 year old gang-banger a "child's death by gun violence".....

Thanks Doc B.  got a feller who is my friend and family doctor, I'd fight tooth and nail for Lane. ;)

Yep!  Done to death.  Vague statistics with no verifiable source.

As far as the waiting period to see a doctor we already have that a lot places...  Just try to get an appointment with the doctor you prefer on short notice... ;)

Delmonico

Perhaps with some, but if I Really need to see my doctor he will make time for me, I just tell the recptionist that I need to see him.   It has to do with the fact he don't want me to be one of those statistics and wants total control of me if I have to go to the ER.   I also don't abuse that privlage.

Hey there Delmonico, how are ya doin'?  I like those boots you sold me.  I tried to reply to this from home last night but somethin' happened to my connection when I tried to submit it...  My current doc isn't too hard to get in to see, if I have to.  (It's too expensive if I don't really have to...)  We had an incident with the other clinic in our town a few years ago where a new administrator came in with a broad-axe and commenced to fire doctors as cost saving measures.  Our doctor was the first he sent packing just because he didn't live in town.  We never did get in to see the doctor we switched to after that for the 6 or 8 months before we switched to our current doctor who was at the new clinic that had just opened up...  Confusing?  Oh well...  The comment about already having a waiting period on doctors was an attempt at humor.  I've heard the best humor contains an element of truth and for folks in some locations it may be too true to be funny.  Oh well...  To think that 25 or 30 years ago I only went to a doctor occaisionally and for a number of years I didn't even have a regular doctor.  Health insurance was totally paid for by my employer, was much better coverage than we have now and for years I never used it.  Now I actually need to use the insurance at times and it costs us more every year.  I guess I'm getting old.  Of course I've heard you gotta either get old or die...

Glad you liked the boots.  Cas-City was down a while yesterday. ::)  If possible one needs to get a doctor one trusts, sometimes a hard thing to do with our push to socialized medicine, one reason I don't need in the clutches of a doctor who don't know me and my problems, many don't believe the patient might know what is wrong, one reason Lane and I get along so well.  I dress Old West all the time and he even brings student doctors in to meet me. ;D  Plus he has a good sense of humor.  When I have my problems and go to see him he just asks, "Do you need to go to the hospital?"  He even will call me back at home and talk to me.  He is a real caring person.

Of course I take him homemade sourdough bread when I have some on hand, so he wants to keep me alive. ;D

They tried making that law BJD, but the Doctors weren't about to take appointments on that short a notice!  ;D

I'd rather buy a gun than try to see my doctor.  At least while I'm waiting to buy the gun I can look at it and other things.

Had an appointment two weeks ago; still had to wait an hour and 45 minutes, then the doc only saw me for less than 15 minutes.

I used to work for a shrink.   Don't care what their speciality is, their out for one thing...................MONEY.

FYI, still ain't heard back from the doc about my xrays.........was suppose to call back after he talked to my daughter one evening,  I may be walking around on a cracked foot.  Good doctor, don't ya think.

Please don't say get another doc, their all the same around here.

Sorry, my rant for the evening.
