I remember a while back seeing plans on the web for modifying a welders gas tank cart to be used for a gun cart but, I'm paying the devil now to find thoes plans.  Can anyone help?  Thanks.

Major 2

I've seen them, but as I recall it was heavy.
here is one I made from a Harper Mfg. Hand-truck (Home Depot) $39.

The Harper is manufactured from High impact nylon , with a steel handle , Axel ,and package plate.
It has Pneumatic 3.50" X 12" tires, that work well in Fla. soft sandy soil and over obstacles.

The frame is trestle style, cross braced with U channel that allow 3/4 Oak lumber scraps to be custom cut for your guns and slid in to place.

Total weight (without guns ) 16 LBS , mine is made for 3 , (a Henry, a Spencer and a SXS ) but you can make it fit whatever you have.
Also has held a 73 Rifle and/or a Marlin Cowboy in the Henry location.
The guns just lift in and out in the three point hold , no need for any strap hold downs
Total cost about $45,  includes the cost of a new Harper hand-truck, I had the scrap oak ,   SS screws (6) and two u bolts.

Any box can be use as the possibles box and rides on the trucks package plate.

Or PM , Big John Denny he made one from a gas welding cart....
when planets align...do the deal !

This is what I have done so far with a Harbor Freight welding cart.
I had to drill some new holes for the axle mount to move the wheels.

Have not finished the long gun rack part yet, so currently it is Pipe insulation and bungee cords.

Here is where I got the idea

Flat Water Jonny and all,

Sorry I didn't get back to y'all sooner-was called out of town.

These pictures are exactly what I was looking for.  I think the welding cart is just the ticket for my needs.

Thanks again for all the help.  Red

Red, I made my Cart from the Harbor Freight welding cart a long time ago. Rather then make the entire bottom of the cart a large box, I made a simple sectioned base and a separate box. I also made a simple gun rack top that is pretty universal for various types of long guns.

You can't beat those large diameter wheels for ease of travel over gravel or rough ground.

If I get your e-mail address I'll send you photos of my cart in various configuartions of set-up.
