Recieved my new Euro from a popular dist last week. Bad machine work on hammer. It will not engage the safety notches on the cylinder. I have a 79 ASP I can match it up to. You can see the problem with a naked eye. It will fire a cap. Other differences I have noticed is the loading latch is made different, the trigger guard seems more cramped expecially at full cock, the head of the  screw holding the grips on sticks out to far. Havent givin it a fair shake at the range yet, as the #11 caps were falling off faster than I could put them on. Apparently the new revolver takes #10s that I did not have. Will give S&S a  call and order me a handfull of small parts. Did not buy my new Remmi from S&S.

I had to remove a little from the hammer so it would not contact the back of the cylinder before the tip of the hammer could engage the safety notch. Be careful not to remove any of the surface that strikes the nipple. If my memory serves the area i had to file/grind was on the hammer below the striking surface on the underneath side. It didn't take much to allow the hammer to seat into the safety notch. I think it hit on the cylinder where it contacts the back of the frame (where the hand engages the cylinder) between the nipple cutouts. Also make sure the tip of the hammer is narrow enough to drop into the safety notches. You can pull the cylinder and see if you can glide the hammer tip into the groove. I.E. you may need to take a little off the sides of the hammer tip if it is too wide to fit. I believe it was a Pietta or two that I had to make safer in one or both these ways.

Thanks for the advice Hellgate. I believe you nailed the problem exactly. The hammer is hitting the back of the cylnder before the hammer face can drop into the safty notch. I will make the nessesary adjustments as you have describe.  I was wrong about the #10 caps. They ride to high and wont allow the cylinder to rotate. These nips just dont want to hold #11s tight no matte how hard I press. Thanks again pard, for helping out a newbie.

You might want to pinch the loose caps a little out of round so they will stick onto the nipples. In order of sise from smallest to largest:
RWS 1055 (#10)
CCI#10
RWS#1075 (#11)
Rem#10
CCI#11
Rem#11

The RWS & CCI #10s ride high on my guns and take at least two whacks to ignite. Between the CCI#11s and the RWS #11s I could get most of my guns shooting fine. The Rem#10 is forgiving enough as they are pushed onto the nipple to fit all my guns. If not i replaced the nipples with Treso or Thunder Ridge stainless replacement nipples.
