Hmm.  Yeppers, it is a bit "bright".  Marsal, if ya click on the "Main Street" button at the top of this page, ya' get the screen with a white bar at the top, then a yellow bar, then the brown field with the fluorescent red titling in it.  Makes my eyes twitch.

Folks!
I am still a little lost. Below is a pic of the front page (Main Street) as it is displayed on most computers.

There is no white bar at the top and I don't have any red on brown.

The CAS City with the gun doesn't appea, the Aiming for News is at the top in a white bar.  The area below that is a light brown color and the Headlines are in a flourescent red color.  Not sure if it has to do with Windows settings affecting it or not Marshall, but i definitely see the same thing they do.  It wasn't that way yesterday, so it could be because I don't see the top header anymore that is causing the colors to offset.

That's what it is Marshall the header down thru the part with featured sponsor isn't there.  The backgroung color behind featured sponsor in your shot is now replacing the color white that was behind the areas where you have red lettering.  Probably have a piece of HTML script in the header that didn't execute.

I have Norton and by turning off ad blocking I do get the banner and ad info now for the sponsors and the color for the background is back like it should be.  Now I'll have to sit down this weekend and go to advanced configure to tweak this because ther are some sites where I want this protection. ;D

Never mind maybe I should read all of the directions before I speak.  I now have it turned off for just this site, I like the ability to pick and choose I just think it should inform me that some content is being blocked and let me choose whether or not to block it instead of assuming I don't want any of it. >:(

I have written about this before, but do it again.

A growing number of software products like Norton 2004 are secretly installing web site blocking censorship technology to blocking web sites from being displayed fully. So far, they have not blocked info about firearms like some search engines do.

It's one thing to block popups or warn about inappropriate content... but this goes way too far... especially since some of our citizens using Norton on their computer have no idea what's going on (the optional filter is installed "ON" by default). It took me several months to figure this out last year when visitors to Cas City complained about not finding information others could find. When I installed Norton 2004, I experienced the same problem and saw how they have set up their filter. I am not just talking about ads, but images and graphics stored in directories with names banned by Norton.

In simple speak, the software uses its very own blacklist and scans Web pages. If a graphic is too large or the content matches a list of over 200 poison words in the software's blacklist, visitors can't see pages as designed... instead, Norton "whites out" the content -- and does so without explanation.

There are two ways to handle this:

Turning Norton Internet Security (NIS) off Globally

Turning "ad blocking" off from within Norton Internet Security is actually pretty easy.

Double click on the globe, which resides on your icon bar
Select "Ad Blocker" from the NIS main screen
Click "Turn Off" from the right hand menu bar

Turning NIS off for one Specific Site
If you prefer to leave Ad Blocking turned on, but would like to see the underlying content of a specific site, you can do that as well.

Click the down arrow next to the green globe on your Internet Explorer Task Bar
Uncheck the "Block Ads from this Site" box.

;D Thanks for this information regarding Norton (a/k/a Symantec) I used to think that Norton was the cats meow, but it has turned itself into a flaming nuisance---it slows down e-mail both ways and when the e-mail feature is operating it shuts down the rest of the computer ??? At least it does do quite well as an anti-virus and fire wall, but at what expense. MacAfee was the most totally usless of all which came  pre-installed by Dell and I still cannot get rid of the whole thing. I have a new computer being built and it won't contain either product. The worst part is the inability to get help----I run scans and come up with a list of 11 Adware items to be removed---and the damned Norton will NOT remove them----a-a-a-r-r-r-r-g-g-g-h-h!  >:(

I've got McAfee Security Center.  Does my virus pattern updates automatically.  Never had a problem with blocking any of the Marshal's content.  It does slow down incoming email, but you can turn off the outgoing scan (assuming you are sure your machine is clean).  It also slows down the opening of files, but what you rather do, wait a few seconds, or rebuild your hard drive because a new worm snuck in?

A bit different problem here.  Recently switched from a local ISP to AOL (got 6 months free with new Dell 'puter), and I no longer receive email notification of posts to topics I originate or respond to on this forum.  I've updated my profile to reflect new email address, etc.  Any ideas how to fix?

I can't help you there. AOL is a pain in the ...... and blocks the emails we send out, newsletters, notifications, etc. They call it spam, although we have notified them that all emails we send out is subscriptions initiated by our users.

:o Well I turned off the add blocking as they just ain't no green ball nowhere's in sight and I paying for Norton Internet Security 2004. You know the site's graphics are quite beautiful and so appropriate---reminds of that George Orwell's "Big Brother is Watching"---the Thought Police are at work---da noive of Symantec to do my thinking for me. Boy I cannot wait until my new compooter is finished and up on line without MacAfee and Norton to screw the works up.  This reminds me of the "Pork Barrel" legislations that our Congress and State Legislatures foist on the American public year after year---sneaking those little nasties in with perfectly inocuous laws.  >:(
