After 4 years of 5 Pietta Remmie 44`s .. i felt i needed one of each flavor offered to us .. so after much horse tradeing and bean eating .. i now have my collection down to  4.. 1858 44 remmies .. 1 Pietta , 1 ASM , 1 EuroArms , 1 Uberti ..I also have aquired 2 drop in conversions 1 R&D and 1 Kirst ..They are all good guns ..even though they all need a little smoothing parts and innards , The grip size on the Euro Arms are diffinetly the smallest ..then the ASM ..and the Uberti just a little smaller than the largest which is the Pietta . I like the R&D drop in conversion better than the Kirst .. the R&D is a little quicker to use for me , and i like haveing the 6 shot and my Kirst is just a 5 shot . All of the remmies mentioned have a dovetailed in front sight except my Pietta ..and i was lucky it didn`t need any windage adjustment , just a little fileing the front sight down brought it to POA . AS far as cylinders Pietta stands alone there too .. the Uberti cylinders also fit the ASM and EuroArms .

Hey Sundance,...sounds like you got a nice little brace of Rems! ;)

I knew the Uberti R&D would fit in the Euroarms/ASPs,but didn't realize they would also fit the ASM.
That's good to know.

The R&D drop in Uberti cylinder was a wee bit too tight for my ASM ..but Taylors knew i was useing it in a ASM so they sent instructions for me to file the inside cylinder pin window a bit so it wouldn`t bind up // wasn`t any problem to do .and it works fine...BTW sighted in the EuroArms remmie yesterday .. shoots tighter groups then any of them ..grip frame is so small it wore a blister on a finger from the trigger guard rubbing it .... ouch .. sure was impressed with the tiny group at 15 yards bench ..cut the center out of a 2 inch bullseye .and no flyers ...the cylinder holes are chamfered too won`t shave lead when loading.. didn`t like that when i seen that ...but it sure didn`t hurt the groups ..lol .

Howdy Sundance,
What did you have to do to fit the R&D Uberti cylinder to the ASP (Euroarms)? I have an ASP and tried to install a Uberti 1858 cap-n-ball cylinder in it and the cylinder pin was larger on the ASP than the Uberti's and I was not able to insert it completely through the Uberti cylinder. Is there a trick to this or will R&D give instructions on how to make this fit? Thanks.

I`d call Taylors about it R&D folks always reffered me to them ..i think sometimes it takes a little finess on alot of the conversions .. the pin problem your haveing i`m haveing that same problem with the kirst cylinder going in the Uberti .. and the R&D drops right in . go figure ..and the Uberti kirst drops right in on the Euroarms gun ... lol .. guess thats why i wanted one of every flavor made now days .. just wanted to see what was going on with some of the problems i`ve heard about .I did some tradeing for the Euro gun and it looks like someone has replaced the cylinder pin on it .. maybe thats why the kirst cylinder was part of the trade too . I already had the Uberti R&D and was useing it with my ASM . Man i`m gonna be a gun smith yet ...lol  might have to be !

Sundance,......yes, those Euroarms or ASP'58 Rems tend to have chambers & groove dimensions close to each other, which is good for accuracy.  The chambers being chamfered like you mentioned is actually good for better accuracy because instead of shaving the ball at the very beginning of its entry into the chamber, the lead stays on the ball & gets swagged against the chamber walls by the outer edges of the rammer's plunger, which makes for nice tight fit in chamber. ;)

Biermeister,...I have put a 2005  Uberti '58 Rem cap & ball cylinder into a 1984 ASP '58 Rem frame and it fit well, and cycled nicely. I did notice, though, that the cylinder notches in the Uberti Rem were shallower than those on the ASP,... one of the things I like about the ASPs is that distinct "CLICK" into full cock when the bolt pops up into that deeper cylinder notch. I don't hear it the same when I put the Uberti cylinder in the ASP.  I wonder if certain years of manufacture for either the Uberti or Euroarms/ASPs made then slightly different in cylinder pin size , which gives rise to your problem?  What year manufacture are the two? Just curious. :-\

Try polishing the cylinder pin with 400 then 600 grit to a mirror or close finish, that might solver your problem.

An Observation.
I have 4 Euroarms/ASP '58 Remy's, two made in the same week if not the same day in 1977 (541 numbers apart) . They have the same cylinders, pins and pawl design. One I have is 1994 and it has a different Pawl design, and the newer one (2004??)has a different pawl design still. Now all 4 cylinders will swap into 3 of the pistols, and one will take 3 of the 4, but not the fourth cylinder. I just measured all the cylinders and 3 are 2.004-006 in length and the long one is 2.009. All 4 cylinder windows are 2.010 in length. The cylinder pin in one bound up with that cylinder and it would fit only the pistol it came out of. I found that one cylinder pin has shallow grooves cut in it(faulty machining??) while the others were smooth. I smoothed out the one pin and it works much better now and no wobbly cylinder either. All 4 will accept the Uberti Carbine cylinder and all five '58's(4 Euro/ASP, 1 Ubert Carbine) will accept and function great with my 2 Kirst conversion cylinders. The Uberti Carbine will also accept all 5 C & B cylinders and functions great. All 5 with any cylinderin them, have great Chamber/Bore alignment.
Check the length of the cylinder window and the length of the cylinder. If they are within .001 of each dimension then gently face off the face of the cylinder .001-.002. You can do that with a flat file and micrometers, measuring at all clock positions around the cylinder face.( I.E. 12:00, 1:00, 2:00, etc.) and finish up with 400 grit then 600 grit and reblue with Birchwood-Casey Super Blue.

Charlie the Euro remmie i got off a trade don`t know what year it is ..but it had the shallow groves in the cylinder pin too ... like you i sanded them out and polished it up ... just because .. i didn`t like the way it looked .. a 5 shot Kirst drop in came with it and it works fine in the Euro .... and it works good in my ASM remmie .. but it won`t fit my Uberti ,, it fits in the frame but the cylinder pin won`t push all the way in with it .. it seems to bind up some where .. i really haven`t had time to see whats going on with it .. probally needs some fileing on the frame somewhere . Just been useing my R&D drop in with the Uberti for now .. it works fine in it .

Try it with the Euroarms Cylinder pin and see if that makes a difference. I have worked on all my cylinder pins so they fit every pistol...so iffen i'm ever under attack and have all the pistolas apart, I can jam a cylinder pin and cylinder together and go to the wall!....LOL
It may not be the Pin, it could be binding on the hand that will mis-align the cylinder just enough to bind the pin.  I have contoured all my hands to approximate each other. That takes the variables out of the equasion somewhat.  Also check that the bolt is completely recessed when on half-cock.
