the deep freeze was empty and this sharps 45-70 business rifle is new for me, so i was itching to try it out.
got this young doe this after noon.

405 grain soft lead cast from a lee hollow base mould. home made bullet lube mixed from real bees wax fresh from the hive(i know a bee keeper) lard and deer tallow. 65 grains of 3f goex black powder in remington cases ignited with a federal match grade primer.

doe was facing me dead on. i had the site on her waiting for her to turn broad side. she never did she quarted and when i could see the front shoulder i let her have it. the bullet went in a little farther back( i guess i pulled) but came out the back leg on the opposite side.

first deer with this gun and got meat in the freezer. now i'm after her daddy

Billy, is that hat one of River Junctions 'Wild Bill' hats ?

Fine looking headgear there , Billy.

thanks marshal i love that hat. it wears like a dream and is very comfortable and seems to have some luck in it. that deer makes deer number 3 while wearing that hat.
i got it from clear water hats. it is called there old tucson hat.

when i got mine about 6 years ago it was a standard production hat. they now say it is special order. mine is coffee brown the color they show on the web site was not offered when i got mine.

i wore it like the hat on the web site for a long time but after i seen the wild bill hat at river junction i reshaped it my self. it was quiet easy as it already had the roll brim. i just reshaped the crown and bent the brim up some over my right eye to help me aim. kind of like the hat jeff bridges has on in your avitar, which by the way is one of my favorite wild bill movies. wish they would make a movie about wild bill that is a little bit more accurate about his life
