Have you checked out the Pedersoli replicas of the #1 remington rolling blocks.  I have one thats in the buffalo hunter configuration.  Its chambered for .45-70 govt.  Its a nice shooter and reloading suppiles are very easy to find.

hmmm  I will check the remington rolling block out... thanks :)   what other long range rifles are there?  can I use my 50 cal. hawkin in any side matches or long range shooting?

I am not sure about the Hawken.  But I can tell you this these events are timed.  Like the silhouette match I shot this past weekend.  You had 12 min 30 sec to shoot 10 targets  plus your sighting shoots on the dinger target at each distance.  Even with factory loaded ammunition  its sometimes a close call getting in you 10 aimed shots.  So a single shot muzzleloader is not a good choice.  For a good reference books get a copy of "Shooting Buffalo Rifles of the Old West" By Mike Venturino.  He talks about all the guns used to hunt buffalo which is what you'll want for long range shooting in CAS.

I have a Browning Hi wall in 38-55 which I like a lot.  The 38-55 is not as common as the 45-70 but kick less and is accurate.

Uberti make an excellent copy of the Winchester 1885.

There's also a good range of Sharps rifles produced by Armi Sport - I think Taylor's is the main source over there.

Just a FYI, NCOWS does not allow the 1885's in their side match buffalo shoots, a bit to late to be a buffalo gun.

Don't forget the trapdoor, if that's what you like.

One thing I don't like about the rollers is few have a set trigger, I like a set trigger on a long range gun, gonna add one soon to my reworked 1885 Low-Wall in 22 Hornet.

My personnal favorite is the Remington Hepburn. Mine is in 40/90SS. It is more comfortable and fits me far better than my Shiloh Sharps in 45/110.
