A BIG thanks to all that made the National Shoot a lot of fun for me.

And I am certain others.

Thanks to all the attendents for the fun shooting and great conversations.

The National Shoot was a hoot!  Excellent stages.  The old town part of Hooten Old Town is really nice, prices at the gun shop were almost 19th century.   The Kentucky hills were beautiful, we visited Kentucky Horse Park and Boonesboro, plus a couple of gunshops in Lexington.  The weather was excellent, cool as soon as the sun went down, high of 87 most days.
The socializin' was great, met lots of new folks and got to put faces with a few people from this forum.
If you really couldn't make it because of conflicts, I'm sorry, you missed a good one.   If you just blew it off because it wasn't in your backyard, then you're sorry.

GREAT, GREAT, TIME!!! Hooten was just outstanding, Ralph the property owner was equally interesting!!!! Breakfast and lunch was good, Fri dinner was good, really liked the band, the Kentucky hills were beautiful - you could suspend reality and imagine yourself in the black hills of SD,  it was just GREAT. And of course the people;

Got to see Dr. Bob at the banquet as ONLY Dr. Bob could dress-

Got to see Books get mad, that was pretty cool-

Got to see OCB miss a target only slightly smaller than Mt. Renier proving that even reputed warriors can have an off day-

Got to see OCB smoke 6 targets shooting his rifle from the hip which I guess is why he was  reputed to start with-

Got to see Michelle shoot at and I swear hit almost every target she pointed the gun at which did nothing for my ego and I now suspect she must have had a laser sight on at least her pistol.

Got to see a man shoot who I have tremendous respect for as editor of the Shootist, the Great Lone Gunman,  having now seen him shoot it struck me that no, he is but mortal, I think I'll now just refer to him as Lone Gunman-

Got to meet Irish Dave's wife and am considering launching impeachment proceedings against Irish Dave so that we can install his wife as Marshall, she just might be smarter and she is a WHOLE lot better looking-

Got to meet George Glenn-

Got to meet QuickFire-

Got to meet Will Ketchum and his wife, no doubt as to who is the brains on that spread ;D

Got to meet a whole lot of nice people who were at best just little pictures or names before-

Got to meet a whole lot of people who were niether little pictures or names and I didn't know existed-

Got to see many from the GLF&M Co. who couldn't be a nicer bunch of folks - well of course there was that one unfortunate incident involving Peavine and Charley but security handled that quickly and appropriately ;D ;D ;D and the fact that they were reportedly elected at the banquet as cutest couple showed there were no hard feelings ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

There were just to many good memories to recount here-

It was not convenient for me to go this week due to things going on at work, well screw the man (well maybe not, I guess I'm the man) but I HAD A GREAT TIME! If you missed this due to some lame excuse like, well work - you should have got Dr. Bob to write an excuse for you, you missed a really good one!

A big thanks to Bob and all of the others for all of the very hard work they put into this, it was a huge success in my book!!!!!

Thanks

Let's see....I've been shooting this game for what, maybe 17 years now?  I will say this:  This was the most fun combination of shooting and cameraderie I have had in a LOT of years!!!!

I'm back home now, and already missing the folks and the time we had at the shoot.  I'm already fired up for next year!!!

On top of all of that 10 new members joined!!!!!

AWESOME!!!

To Bob & Jim,

A GREAT BIG "SALUTE"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hooten really was a hoot.  The facilities were excellent and the folks were friendly.  I spent at least as much time grinning and French Jack said I would. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Congratulations to French Jack on being elected to the Senate!  I'm sure that he will do an excellent job.

I really enjoyed the stages.  They were creative and sooooooooooo much fun.  I even shot a couple of stages clean. ::) :o ::)  I sure hope that the Nationals are there in Hooten again next year.  Please, oh please French Jack!!

The socializing was at the same level as the shooting. Banker John Irons is a real clothes horse.  I was envious of how well he was turned out.

The banquet was great fun.  The food was delcious!  Lots of great door prizes, and more top notch socializing!!

Like Marlan, I can't remember when I've had more fun!!

Again, thanks to Bob & Jim for a great shoot!!!!!!!!!!!

Kid you sure hit the nail on the head there!  I actually feel sorry for those who stayed away because it wasn't in Iowa.  The site was great and the socializing couldn't have been better.  French Jack said it would have been better for him and Jim if we would have gotten our registrations in earlier.  So if it's there again next year we should all make every effort to get the registrations in early so they can plan for the number of shooters.

I was very happy to have George Glenn and Dave Williams, 2 of the founding fathers of NCOWS, show up and shoot.  I was proud to have them on my posse.  They are both fine gentleman and their being there showed that they agree that we need to move the shoot from time to time to give more areas a chance to host the event.

Home from Hooten. And it was a hoot!
Outstanding shoot, every stage should have appealed to shooters in every class. The weather was the best i've experienced at a Natl. shoot and I've been at every one since '99. Want to thank Bob, Jim and that blacksmith fellow, and any others who put on one great NCOWS national shoot. Michele said she would go back next year just to hear the fellows who picked and sang Fri night.  And here's to all the great NCOWS supporters who came and made the whole week a memorable experience.            jt

I also would like to express my thanks to all in charge. It was my first NCOWS shoot and, outside of being confused at who is shooting what with how many guns, I thoroughly enjoyed the shoot, the people and the surroundings. Thanks, again! :)

All,

I had a GRAND time meeting everyone!! This was the best shoot, even if I didn't shoot, I have ever attended and I do hope to meet most of you again in person, in the not too distant future.

My congratulations to French Jack on his election to the senate. I had to leave on Saturday before your meeting was finished ( my apologies if I did not say goodbye to all I had met ) so this is new news to me.

Finally a huge THANK YOU to all who made this a great event, my hat is off to you!

Hooten is an outstanding range, clean, comfortable and a beautiful site. With very little imagination it could be taken for Deadwood Gulch in its infancy prior to any major construction. Hats off to Bob Chenault, Jim Mullins and the crew, they did an outstanding job and should be commended for it.....
