Howdy pards, recently picked an older pre-safety marlin 336. primarily going to use this for a deer rifle with jacketed bullets, but was wondering how well lead bullets shoot with this type of rifleing

A fairly hard, .001 oversize gas check lead bullet will shoot just fine in a Micro-Groove barrel.  'Course you could say that of most rifles.    What a Micro groove has no tolerance for is a bullet in any way undersize.  Make sure you know the actual groove diameter of your rifle, then size accordingly.  I always shot mine with the bullets unsized, run thru a .311 sizing die simply to fit the gas check.

But I'm not sure all that many pre-safety 336s had the Micro-Groove barrel.  Might want to check your barrel to be sure.  Micro-Groove uses 12 grooves.  All other Marlin barrels had 6.
Civilize them with a Krag . . .
