Has anyone used BP in the IAC 87?  Wondering about residue in the action and how hard is it to take apart and clean?
I ain't often right but I've never been wrong.

Tensleep

Saw two used with BP this weekend, never saw a problem.
Maybe I can talk to Badwater Bill and Carolina Jack to see what they say.

Anybody try it with brass shells yet?  I was wondering how it would work without a crimped shell

Guano

I shoot brass hulls in my IAC, but I roll crimp them so they feed properly.

Capt. Augustus

I've shot BP in my IAC with no problems.  The action does not get dirty, since the plastic hull seals the breech.  I shoot a light load due to neck problems, I know loads 65 grains and above are having an extraction, ejection problem.  They address the situation on Cap's webpage.

They are pretty easy to clean since the whole insides of the gun comes down out of the gun each time the lever is worked. Take a good look at an open one.

I started using BP in my 87 and have fired about 75 rounds through it so far.  Clean up is fast and easy.  Takes me less time to clean than my double.

Guano, how do you put the roll crimp on your brass hulls?

Carolina Lead Foot

I shot 17 stages at Mule Camp with mine and cleaned of Friday prior to the main match (was a stage driver so I shot through on Tues/Wed/Thur.  Cleaned up real easy and no need to take it apart since it is easy to just flush anything out of the action.  I put a wad of paper towel in the chamber and soaked the inside of the barrel from the muzzle end with moosemilk.  Let it set for a couple of minutes, pushed the wad out from the chamber to the muzzle.  Repeated 2 more times, now it was clean, put a little Ballistol on a patch ran it up the chamber, sprayed down the action with an aresol can of ballistol and I was done.  Just did the same thing today after shooting 8 stages yesterday.  Only took 2 wads today.  It is really a very easy gun to clean BP out of.  Not as easy as my SxS but it far from being difficult.

My .02 cents CLF ;D ;D
