A few year back I worked for a small bakery that was ran by an older sicilin lady. When I move from Ca to S.E. Ne she gave me a copy of her grandma's hand writen recepes. Some had bene translated and some not. Here is one I just got done.

Lemon Cream Torte

Syrup
1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup lemon juice, 1 cup white sugar
combine in small  pan heat to simmer for 30 min. Set off heat in warm place.

Cake
2 cup cake flour, 2 cups white sugar, 4 tsp bakeing powder, 1/4 tsp salt
2 lg eggs, 1cup milk, 1 Tbs vanilla extract
2 Tbs melted butter
sift dry togother 3 times
mix wet together, add wet to dry, add buter beat 150-200 strokes by hand ( 2- 2 1/2 min with electric mixer)
pour into 2 8 in round cake pan, bake 20-30 min at 350
remove from pans and cool on wire racks

Filling
8 oz cream cheese, 1/2 cup white sugar, 1/2 cup lemon juice, 2lg egg yolks
1 pint whipping cream
in double boiler melt cream cheese with sugar and juice add yolks 1 at a time whisk continually till 210 deg
let cool
whip cream and fold into cream cheese mix

cut cakes in half, brush cake with syrup, spread 1/3 of filling between each layer dust top with powdered sugar
