Back in February, I was bragging ad nauseum about having shot my first ever clean match after 4 years shooting CAS. Yesterday, I achieved another first, although it ain't much to brag about.

Yep, you guessed it, I scored my first match DQ. Sent a round out of my pistol right over the berm on the 4th stage. And why, do you ask? Strictly because I was being cocky and careless. Cocked the pistol before I brought it to bear, and didn't realize I had my finger on the trigger until it was too late. The very second the gun went off, I knew what had happened.

If it's any consolation, I'm glad I did it now, and not during Shootout at Mule Camp.

Had an ole boy bounce one, loaded, out his holster yestiddy on a 'track meet' stage.  One them ones havin' more ta do with runnin' than it did shootin'.

Like I tole him, thems two types ah shooters.  Thems what have been match DQ'ed 'n them of 'em what's gonna be.

Happy weren't nobody hurt 'n sumthin' was learnt.

I'm in the second category.  I came close to shootin' my foot a couple of weeks ago with my C&B pistol while practiin' at Litl' Rooster's place.  I stupidly cocked it while pointing down and it went off as I raised the pistol with my finger on the trigger.   I broke one of the rules....keep yer finger off of the trigger until ready to shoot.  My foot is grateful that it was missed....by only a few inches.

It just reenforces the point Safety first and always....  Glad nobody was hurt, I'll shoot with any of you any time...
