Howdy all,

Got another wild hair and want to get a "pocket model .31 caliber BP revolver"
Seems the choice is 1863 Remington and 1849 Colt.

If you have experience with either or both of these, please offer your thoughts.
And what brand do you speak of.

Thanks

I have both of these pistols.  The Remington is a very small revolver and in my large hands it is too small for me to shoot safely in a match, but with the nickel plating it has a bunch of style points and I like showing it off.  The '49 Colt has a larger grip and is easier to handle.  Conversion cylinders are available for both pistols in .32 S&W.

Buy steel framed version is my only thought, both are good guns, but...I'd have to have the Remmy...First!

The Remington takes a bit of getting used to. First range session, I managed to twirl it right out of my hand while cocking. Yup, landed down near my feet, fully cocked  :o

That said, i don't think it's dangerous, just takes a bit more familiarity to handle it well.
I added a tall front sight to mine, now I can even hit the mark with er'.

Hi,
I have 2 brass frame Remingtons never fired.
I was thinking about selling one of them.
Let me know if you are interested.

I have a Colt Blackpowder Series 1848 'Baby Dragoon' Pocket Pistol for sale at $325.00, I'll pay for shipping and insurance. Bigger grip than the Remington and if you contact R&D and Kirst you can find out if their conversion cylinders will work in it (I haven't asked them yet).
Yours, &c.,
