I heard the Red foley vesion of this today at my wife's stepmothers funeral, my cousion sang it at my Grandmother's funeral and I thought it would go well now for Annie.  I like Hank Williams's version the best, the original one under his Alias of "Luke the Drifter."

               BEYOND THE SUNSET--HANK WILLIAMS

SHOULD YOU GO FIRST AND I REMAIN, TO WALK THE ROAD ALONE

ILL LIVE IN MEMORY'S GARDEN DEAR, WITH HAPPY DAYS WE'VE KNOWN

IN SPRING I'LL WAIT FOR ROSES RED, WHEN FAITH THE LILACS BLOOM

AND IN EARLY FALL WHEN BROWN LEAVES FALL,

I'LL CATCH A GLIMPSE OF YOU

SHOULD YOU GO FIRST AND I REMAIN, FOR BATTLES TO BE FOUGHT

EACH THING YOU'VE TOUCHED ALONG THE WAY, WILL BE A HALLOWED SPOT

I'LL HEAR YOUR VOICE ILL SEE YOUR SMILE

THOUGH BLINDLY I MAY GROPE

THE MEMORY OF YOUR HELPING HAND, WILL BUOY ME ON WITH HOPE

BEYOND THE SUNSET OH BLISSFUL MORNING

WHEN WITH OUR SAVIOUR, HEAVEN IS BEGUN

EARTHS TOILING ENDED, OH GLORIOUS DAWNING

BEYOND THE SUNSET WHEN DAY IS DONE

SHOULD YOU GO FIRST AND I REMAIN, TO FINISH WITH THE SCROLL

NO LESSENING SHADOWS SHALL EVER CREEP IN

TO MAKE THIS LIFE SEEM DROLL

WE'VE KNOWN SO MUCH OF HAPPINESS, WE'VE HAD OUR CUP OF JOY

AND MEMORY IS ONE GIFT OF GOD, THAT DEATH CANNOT DESTROY

I WANT TO KNOW EACH STEP YOU TAKE, THAT I MAY WALK THE SAME

FOR SOMEDAY DOWN THAT LONELY ROAD, YOU'LL HEAR ME CALL YOUR NAME

SHOULD YOU GO FIRST AND I REMAIN, ONE THING ILL HAVE YOU DO

WALK SLOWLY DOWN THAT LONG LONG PATH, FOR SOON ILL FOLLOW YOU

THAT FAIR HOMELAND WE'LL KNOW NO PARTING

BEYOND THE SUNSET FOR EVER MORE

We all loved you Annie, Dear Friend.

Howdy the Fire

I just had to come back for one more look around. I started this thread when it appeared "Part One" was petering out. Some folks groaned, but, most came back for the music, trivia and good times. I posted a couple of songs yesterday, but today I have just run out. I can\t seem to think of a one that fits...

But, I will say I will miss Miz Lee, her music refrences, her humour and her gettin on us iffn we gets outta line....

RIP, MIZ LEE

The only song running through my mind is "One Kind Favor" by Peter, Paul and Mary.  I think that it is appropiate for this thread   :'( :'( :'(

I'm going to add another of my favorites, I've told my family I want it played when my time comes.  It's from Johnny Cash's 1995 "Unchained" CD.  The band that backed him was Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, just a great CD.
We saw houses falling from the sky Where the mountains lean down to the sand We saw blackbirds circling 'round an old castle keep And I stood on the cliff and held your hand

Meet Me in Heaven

We walked troubles brooding wind swept hills And we loved and we laughed the pain away At the end of the journey, when our last song is sung will you meet me in Heaven someday.

(Chorus) Can't be sure of how's it's going to be When we walk into the light across the bar but I'll know you and you'll know me Out there beyond the stars.

We've seen the secret things revealed by God And we heard what the angels had to say Should you go first, or if you follow me will you meet me in Heaven someday.

(Chorus) Can't be sure of how's it's going to be When we walk into the light across the bar but I'll know you and you'll know me Out there beyond the stars

Living in a mansion on the streets of gold at the corner of Grace and Rapture Way, in sweet ecstasy while the ages roll will you meet me in Heaven someday.

(Chorus) Can't be sure of how's it's going to be When we walk into the light across the bar but I'll know you and you'll know me out there beyond the stars.

In sweet ecstasy while the ages roll Will you meet in Heaven someday

My wife whines at me cuz she knows I want the pipes to play Amazing Grace at my memorial. But she does know how important it is to me....

still can't come up with the appropriate final tune for here, but I am thinking on it...

Curley, that misses his hugs...

A lone bagpipper playing Amazing Grace is a popular choice.  We did this for my uncle a few years ago in the dead of winter.

Good Country Music is full of such songs, here is one by a modern guy, don't care for much of his music, but he did good on this one, the vidio tht show John Wayne and Lane Frost will bring tears to your eyes.

The Dance
Looking back on the memory of
The dance we shared 'neath the stars alone
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye

And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance

Holding you I held everything
For a moment wasn't I a king
But if I'd only known how the king would fall
Hey who's to say you know I might have chanced it all

And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance

Yes my life is better left to chance
I could have missed the pain but I'd of had to miss the dance
