This goes back to a previous thread on the repeating/SxS debate.

Interesting blurb from W.W. Greener "The gun and Its Development"

Quote"A traveling representative of a firm which manufactures a repeating shotgun, and who was himself an expert shot in the use of the gun, was challenged by a sportsman he met casually to shoot a match wth him against time, the sportsman to use a Greener self-acting ejector gun. The result of the match was  that the sportsman won by breaking 90 glass balls out of 100 in seven minutes; the expert broke the same number but occured more than ten minutes in firing...."

Greener states that both guns became so hot that they had to be submerged in a tub of water every ten or fifteen shots.

It would be interesting to setup the stage so the repeating shotgun folks start with a full magazine (as they would have back in the day) then have to reload a full magazine on the clock at least once. add some clays (rabbits etc.) to simulate a hunting expereince in addition to the fixed target and it would certainly ad variety and interest not to mention how fast a SxS can blaze through such a scenario.

Does sound kinda fun.  Sounds like what we do all summer for fun.  Get a couple boxes of clays and a few boxes of shells and spend the afternoon blasting holes in the sky.  Good clean honest fun.

If you look in your Shootist magazine, you will find that this is the sort fo shoot Jay Weber has planned for CVR's Fun Shoot held  September 29 & 30 and October 1.
Shooting clays birds will be the game of the weekend along with rabbits, varmits and other fun things.
Plan to attend and have fun.
