I'm new and this is my first post.  I am wanting to know if there is a way to distress, weather, antique, or what ever you want to call it, to a stainless NV?  I am just wanting to knock that shine down some.   8)  This may not be the best spot to post, I don't know.  But maybe if someone here doesn't know, then they can point me in the right direction.  Thanks for all the help in advance.

First off kenken...  welcome to the fire and congradulations on buying the best single action revolver in the world.  I own 4 of the older, bigger Vaqueros, 3 in ss finish.  I like 'em shiny.  Looks like nickle.  I've never thought about antiqueing them.
Maybe one of our other pards can help.   8)

Just use them.  They will age them some.   ;D

Black powder loads will definately dirty them up.
Actually a lot if you shoot them as a"GUNFUGHTER".  ;D
Yep, you can bead blast them too.  I did that to many of mine (just the sights, though).

What do you want them to look like?.
Are you trying to make them look like a blued six-gun that the finish has worn off?

The easiest way to age it is to trade with someone with a blued gun.  ;D

The problem with stainless is that if you give it a good cleaning it gets all sorts of shiny again.

Also, I recall there are rules (I am not a rule nut, so I forget the exact wording, someone correct me if I am quoting something that isn't true) that say that stainless is OK in CAS only if it is shiny-polished and looks like nickle, because they didn't have stainless back then.

What you may be alluding to is the NCOWS unapproved finish of the bead blasted look of the SS USFA Rodeo ( both SS & Dull Blued)
and the dull Mulinum or Hombre by Uberti...
They are OK for SASS I believe

The Shiny SS is NCOWS approved as it does memic Nickel.

BTW , the short lived 4 crazy colors... camo green, mustard yellow, desert tan that looked pink , and black
USFA offered on their SAA some years back never was even concidered by NCOWS not sure about SASS...

when planets align...do the deal !

Just wanting it to look old and used.  I have bead blasted it and now I want some of the yellowed ivory looking grips for it.
